Hide menu if no content

Hide menu if no content

Hi
Does anybody know any tricks how to hide a submenu if there are no sub pages?
I´m thinking about a layout like this:


Menu
{menu}


If there are no pages, then the menu want show up. And the maincontent will expand to the hole page.
I have no example to show yet, since I´m in the design fase and want to know if its possible.
