Mac & Safari, no WYSIWYG-View Editing Pages/Content

Post by jackie »

Hi,

I am currently building a site for a friend using CMSMS. Everything worked fine so far. Last night I went to give him a first impression of what he can expect and how easy and conftable it is managing the content. Unfortunately his system (Mac OS 10 and Safari 1.3.x) do not display the WYSIWYG-View when editing a page (only HTML)  :-\

I guess it has something to do with the FCKEditor and the choice of Browser   ??? but do not know what ?

Can anybody tell me something about the requirements of the FCKEditor?
Has somebody (unfortunately I am not, but my friend is) made similar experiences with a Mac
Is there a workaround / another editor?

THX

Unfortunately, Safari does not support WYSIWYGs at this time.  It's actually a limitation of the KHTML library that Safari is based on.

I'm a Mac user as well, so I understand the pain.  :)

The best thing to do is get that person to install Firefox or Camino as a browser and use that.  Or, TinyMCE (an older WYSIWYG that used to come with CMSMS) might work, but I'm not sure there is a version of that that will work on 0.11.x.  I can probalby look into it if the Firefox/Camino thing doesn't work out.

Hope that helps.

Hi wishy,

Firefox and Camino didn´t solve the problem today. I installed both on the Mac of my friend. Was it just a guess of U or do you run cmms / FCKEditor under Mac in WYSIWYG?

Very strange. FCKeditor works fine under Firefox on Mac for me.  I really don't have any idea what's going on there...

Hi wishy,

it works fine for him as well.... now, I got behind the problem, because I wanted to do some work in the Content section today and didn´t get the WYSIWYG as well (I am on Linux and Firefox), checking all the settings I found out, that my friend switched off the editor in "user preferences"  ::)

FCKEditor with Firefox or Camino on Mac is def. working, You are right, SORRY and THX for your help
