[SOLVED] Global Content Blocks and multi language

When you look at the content management area for the Global Content Block it looks as if it is automatic to create and use blocks for different languages but it is obvious when inserting the link {global_content name= 'fred'} that there is no indication of language switching.

Clearly I can create a GCB for each langauge {global_content name= 'fred_en'} {global_content name= 'fred_cn'} but is that the only (best) way to do this?
