Porting Oscommerce Shop to CMSMS

Post by roman »

I was started porting Oscommerce to CMSMS. I like to It's only for trying, not full features...only basic things.
I changed some files from standart osc installation: includes/aplication_top.php,
includes/admin/aplication_top.php,
includes/filenames.php,
includes/admin/filenames.php.

New files are:
configure.php,
configureadmin.php

where is transformation some settings from CMSMS config file to osc. Also install procedure is automated ... we have all parameters what we need from CMSMS settings and durring install  are created all db tables with standard CMSMS names. (standart oscommerce using tables without db prefix)
I think in future creating some more parameters in module tag, creating template system, with standarts, port admin part in CMSMS system...
Also somebody else can do it or write here some ideas.
Next few weeks i don't will be in front of computer. Later me, (or if somebody no) i like to creating admin part with possibility of edit templates like news module, and porting all oscommerce important boxes to css cmsmadesimple {tags}
Thanks.

Modul is here: http://roman.pego.sk/cmsmadesimple/Oscommerce.zip  Note that is only for development, not for production use. (2 MB of uselessly data for someone) Only one think running - product detail.
...and installation, uninstall. :)

Nice idea! tried it on .11b2,

this erro occurred after oploaded and opened modules pager:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /var/www/t/tibe.nl/HTML/modules/Oscommerce/Oscommerce.module.php on line 304

I removed the "" and it showed correct.
Installed it and went to the new page modules/Oscommerce/oscommerce/admin/
error:
FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini, please enable it!

Can it be used if register_globals is disabled?

On 0.10 and a server which also runs oscommerce (don't know about the globals) it works !
At least the back-end and the test messages that is...

For inside cmsms I suggest to strip left and right columns, put categories in mainpage instead of new-products-box. Also the specials should be in mainpage.
Nice thing is we can finally have a newsletter inside cmsms!!
Can only help with testing as I know not much about PHP...

Hi Patricia,
Zencart was created from osCommerce.  You know, I've been thinking about checking out Zencart.  I have heard it's easier.  However, I've installed so many add ons to osCommerce, I don't think I'm fully ready to let it go.  It's like saying goodbye to an old friend (who annoyed the heck out of me until the wee hours of many nights).  ;)

I just love cmsms and really need an ecommerce option.  I still haven't fully played with cmsms (just a site or two) but it's the only thing I've found (and I have LOOKED) that let's you work with your own site design/css layouts included.

Anyhow...if you have any advice or pointers in regards to the Zencart...go ahead and share em, please!  :)  I can either check out Zencart or translate to osC.  Just wasn't sure on how to get the module up and running to play with it.

Any further development in the area of an e-commerce shopping cart module?

I still don't think I like the idea of OS-commerce, it's just too bloated.

Has someone found something more petite that could perhaps be integrated and then built on later?

The module that is available for download in the old Downloads section is also very buggy. I had to do several tweaks to install it and when succeeding there were other errors trying to access the Oscommerce admin interface.

We're working on some guidelines for module developers. One basic thing is to test the module thoroughly before releasing it. SVN can be used to have people test it on different platforms before release. And once there is a version of a module with a language file in SVN, that module will appear in the Translation Center so that people possibly can translate it even before it's released.

With that said, it's great to soon have an Oscommerce module available. Thanks, Roman!

A webshop solution is a frequent feature request and now we soon have Oscommerce, db_cart and Cataloger that can be used to display products (but not for payment etc.). ;D

Perhaps you should deactivate the upload possibility to the first cause I can't read your thoughts ;D.

Ah, you mean that my tweaks would be good for Roman? Well, the errors I got were obvious, so if I could make those changes Roman, who is a much better programmer than me, can do it too.

And yes, we should deactivate the upload form in the Downloads section, good point! ;D
