[SOLVED] What has happened to my WYSIWYG?

Post by Apprentice »

Hello,

I'm using CMSMS  1.4.1 "Spring Garden", but somehow I have lost WYSIWYG editor. I mean it makes no difference if I check WYSIWYG box or not, the small text editor type icons won't appear... Same thing in Pages -section and everywhere.

Just noticed this after a while... WYSIWYG would be important for the editors. Haven't encountered this before in previous installations of CMSMS, I'm confused  ???

Could someone enlighten me?

Thanks

Hey Apprentice

Had this problem myself once. Couldn't find the course.
But after upgrading the software the problem solved it self...
So I say give it a try.
Make a good backup of your 1.4.1 and upgrade to 1.5.1.
Who knows, does it work...  ;)

Greetz Rolf.

just uninstall tinymce and re-install it.... see if resetting the settings does the trick.

Ok,

I have uninstalled, installed, deleted and reloaded TinyMCE now many times. Problem remains the same, WYSIWYG check box appears, but it doesn't have any effect.

I also tried to switch on the Static Config option, as instructed in TinyMCE Help. After that CMSMS gave this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: file_put_contents() in  .../modules/TinyMCE/TinyMCE.module.php on line 590

So it couldn't be done. After that TinyMCE had to be reinstalled.

Hello,

can you try the checksum tool (near System Info) to check for a broken upgrade upload ?

Hi,

I haven't taken checksum.dat from previous installations, so I guess that it won't help now.

My current CMSMS version is 1.5.1  "San Juan" and my TinyMCE version is 2.4.10

Search for "Andrew Prior". You'll find what I did to beat this. Messy, don't know why it worked, but it has 3 times on three sites

The help text on recent versions:
Troubleshooting
Some people have trouble with tiny not showing up upon installation or upgrading. Here is a checklist of things you can try before contacting me for further support.

1. Please, please, try to reupload the modules/TinyMCE dir to your server. You'd be amazed how many times this has helped people.
2. Try to switch on the Static Config option. Note that this requires your /tmp/-dir to be writable by the webserver
3. If upgrading, please try to reset all settings. Not nice if you've done a lot of customization, I know, but a lot of things changes from 2.3.x to 2.4.x series of the module.
4. Try enabling the static config option in advanced settings. This works better on some systems (like CGI-based)

There is a long thread on this...

1) set modules folder and tinyMCE folder permissions to 755...

2) clear cache in Site Admin > Global Settings...

3) clear all FILES not FOLDERS, except index.html, from tmp, tmp/templates_c using your FTP client...

4) once done with this go to tiny admin and in Advanced tab hit "Reset all settings to default"...

Hi,

Thank you so very much Mark! Your prescription worked right away.  ;D

Rolf: I already did things in TinyMCE troubleshooting, but thanks.

Andrew: Searching with your name resulted five threads (from which one was this thread), but I couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Thanks anyways.
