filemanager using subdomain error

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

filemanager using subdomain error

Post by robbedoes »

To make upgrading cmsms easier I created a subdomain for serving and storing filemanager an imagemanager data.
Imagemanager is working fine but when using filemanager I get a permission error.

When I change to the default upload location (within the cmsms folder) filemanager is running okay.

cmsms 1.5.2
filemanager 0.4.3

What is your reasoning behind thinking moving the serving and storing of it to another place for upgrading made easier?...

When you upgrade it does nothing to your files in the uploads folder...

I think that isn't totally true because you have to delete the old file before putting the new ones on the server (when using ftp).
I know it is very easy to backup and restore the uploads directory but it's also very easy to forget that step :-)

That is why I prefer another place, outside the cmsms folder, to store the uploaded files.

To upgrade from a previous version of CMS Made Simple, do like this:
....
Backup your database and all the files in your CMS Made Simple folder on the server.
Download the latest CMS Made Simple package.
Upload the new files, overwriting all the files on your server.
....

No where does it say delete files, you just overwrite existing files, it won't write over anything you have added, images in uploads/images or uploads as they are user added files/folders not from CMSMS...

Only folders/files from the cmsms will be overwritten...

I'll give it a try on a test installation.

Nevertheless is it strange that image manager can handle a subdomain and file manager can't.
