[solved]Password Not Recognised (though correct)

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved]Password Not Recognised (though correct)

Post by Steve_T »

I have moved a site to a new server. www.margrovepark.com - in doing so I upgraded to 1.5.2

After installation I can not login even though the password is absolutely correct

also the site does not show up but it is there on the server.

I'm using addon domain in Hostgator. I altered the domain name server to point to the location this morning about 11 hours ago. A plain html page shows up all right   http://www.margrovepark.com/Xindex.html

Hi Steve,
I have moved a site to a new server.
Did you change all the path names in config.php?

:D Rolf

It was a fresh install Rolf so the config.php started blank and was configured by the installation

got the following from our host - does it give anyone any clues

When I run that index.php file on the server it gives a 404 error. It looks like it is some misconfiguration in the database for that script:
write(5, "8\0\0\0\3SELECT sitepref_name, sitep"..., 60) = 60
read(5, ";\0\0\1\377z\4#42S02Table \'dvnet_margro"..., 16384) = 63
gettimeofday({1232479377, 991164}, {360, 0}) = 0
write(1, "

404 Not Found

Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.

It looks like it could be a variable for sitepref_name in the database.

Hello again Steve,

I am sorry but I don't understand  ??? (perhaps it's my fault, English isn't my first language haha  :D )
I have moved a site to a new server
...
in doing so I upgraded to 1.5.2
...
It was a fresh install
...
If your site is a new install, why should you make an upgrade to 1.5.2?
Didn't you just install the full 1.5.2?
Can you give us some more information how you installed this site.

Oh... I see you are trying to reinstall the site. I get the install section again.
Please let us know if it is working this time! Good luck!  ;D

Cheers, Rolf

I'm moving the site to another server.
I simply FTP'd the most recent version - so it's not strictly speaking an upgrade as the earlier version remains on the old server

does that make sense

Yes, thanks! ;D I'm sorry for that...  ;)

I think that while transfering the 1.5.2 files to the new server something went wrong. Not all files were copied for instance - you can use the checksum file, if you want to be shure.
Or something went wrong installing 1.5.2... Did you get any red errors during this install?
If so, before going along, try to fix these errors...

It's a new install, so the easiest option is to make another new install (perhaps in a different folder) with a blank database
Make a fresh start...

:) Rolf

I marked this [solved]

I had a problem analysing the fault because there were too many variables. Server move + upgrade to latest CMSMS.

The problem was this: - when I did a MySQL dump from the old host I did not get a true accurate dump of the database. This was because of phpMyadmin timeout. My first fix was to install CMSMS on the new server and link it to the MySQL on the old server (a temporary fix)

I asked the old host (UK Web solutions) to dump the database for me which they did.

I then asked the new host (Hostgator) to import it for me which they did.

A big "UP" to both hosts for their assistance. - we're now continuing to develop the site www.margrove.com

Interestingly, the community group - desperate that their site was down googled and found this thread so at least they knew I was trying to fix it!
