[SOLVED- no sure why] Lost my WYSIWYG with TinyMCE

Post by Andrew Prior »

Using CMSMadeSimple 1.4.  No problems. I have changed no settings.
Found today that the toolbars etc for TinyMCE will not display. I just get the code
Installed FckEditorX and that doesn't even let me see the html code.

Uninstalled TinyMCE and reinstalled. No result
Reloaded the module from the forge. No result

Upgraded all to 1.5. Very cool, but still no WYSiWyG editor, on code in the content boxes.

I seem to be asking the wrong questions when I query the forum through Google, as I am not getting any help that way.
Can anyone suggest what I should try next.

Thanks.
Andrew

The original build of this web site was x.x.x.x/~user, and that was reflected in the root url of config.php
The config.php was subsequently changed to foobar.com

ISP has just change the DNS of this server... 5 days ago
On a hunch I changed config.php to the new IP y.y.y.y/~user. This means TinyMCE works. No idea why it does not work with foobar.com!

I couldn't get TinyMCE to work for me either after a fresh install of 1.5.2.  Searched the forums and came across this thread but it didn't apply and took me ages to find a thread that solved it!  Basically, I just had to set the permissions on the modules directory to 0755 (had been 0777) and things worked perfectly.

The thread I found was here by the way... thanks everyone.

:D ;D :-* ::)  THANK YOU!!!!! I too lost the wysiwyg for TinyMCE and was tearing my hair out wondering what I had done.  I knew it was something simple!

And thanks also for the wording of the subject line!!  All hail and many blessings upon you!

I just moved my site to hostmonster and TinyMCE toolbar would not show up...they I installed Wordpress, as one of their easy scripted installs and the toolbar came back.  For each domain (site) I moved over I had to do the same thing.  Not sure why, but it works for me for every site I create.  It would be nice to figure our why is this happening with my host. (BTW, they have excellent support, 2-3 rings and their tech dpt. picks up...

The first thing to do when moving a site is to clear site cache first as this has all the stored info for it, and yes for tiny the best bet is to set modules to 755...
