[solved]why can't I get past the database info?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved]why can't I get past the database info?

Post by Tracy »

Ok, I've installed successfully at least 3-4 times. I've created my database and have been granted permissions

The screen that asks for the db name, username and password are stumping me. Do I have to preceed them with anything like cms_username? I believe the last time I entered the account name_username and accountname_dbname but the password just alone. Although, I have done this and tried all sorts of senarios with no luck. Can anyone help me out? Thankyou

The naming is exactly what you used when you set up the database.

Yes that's right, I entered it exactly about 50 times and used other senarios for example the account name_ etc. with no luck. So any other ideas what the problem may be? ???

the db name is not always exactly what you used when you set up the db.  Some hosts add a prefix to the db name, so make sure your host isn't doing this, or if they are, find out exactly what the full db name is (including their prefix)

Success! I phoned the host. With this host I don't need to preceed the username and dbname with anything. It was the host address I had wrong. I had left it default at "localhost" which I had done before on other servers. Thanks for the help. I am so happy!
