OxygenFire - A new admin theme

Post by Simon66 »

As I'm having a problem uploading my admin theme to themes.cmsmadesimple.org I thought I'd put it here for the time being, if anyone is interested.

OxygenFire is an admin theme using an iconset originally intended for KDE called Oxygen, but many of the icons have been altered to suit.

OxygenFire is a fixed width theme set at 1000px wide. (this can be changed in the CSS of course) Look out for this:
#OxygenFire-container
{
width: 1000px;
}

OxygenFire uses an IE fix from Google that fixes transparent PNGs in IE and other problems. It eliminates the need for an extra stylesheet for IE.
Look here for details: http://ie7-js.googlecode.com/svn/test/index.html

I've included a number of other icons that go in the core modules 'images' folders. (some modules need an 'images' folder to be created) This gives a unique icon to each menu item when you click on the top level nav links.
There is also a folder of my working files, that contains Inkscape SVG files and Fireworks PNG files. These may be useful to someone who wants to modify it.

OxygenFire is based on the NCleanGrey theme by Nuno Costa.

Hope you like it.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I installed it and played some time with it ...

It is not exactly my color taste but still great theme. Both thumbs up. I actually noted the last modified timestamp on the edit template page the first time (at least it feels like it ;)). What I want to say: I think it is very easy to "understand". The extra spacing makes it very handy on larger screens and the bigger items don't require you to target your mouse movements very precisely ;). It feel like I can visually understand what's displayed quicker.

Admin screens with longer lists become quite long and you scroll a lot, probably the list spacing could be a little smaller (2px or so)...

Will definitely keep this one for a while and use it more. Will give you more feedback then.

Would you consider making other color versions from it? E.g. blueish, greenish, reddish. I personally would like a grey/blueish or grey reddish color theme :)

Good work and thank you for the theme

Best

Hi nhaack,
Thanks for the feedback, I'm working on three more versions of it at the moment (OxygenEarth, OxygenAir & OxygenWater).
I'll make the list icons and the list text smaller on some of these.

I'm a graphic designer and I use a big 1920x1200 screen so I like a chunky interface, but I will make some of the others smaller and leaner.

Thanks again
