I second that.

What's more, it is in there by default and it confuses all my users  >:(

So what is it good for?

You can add images/thumbnails to pages and use them for a image-driven menu f.e. You have to modify the menu-template then to use the image instead..

Aaaargh.

I hope this will be the last gimmick added. After all, CMSMS is famous for its uncomplicated interface. Gimmicks like this just make things worse.

Why was that added? Did someone really request that?

Sorry, but IMO an "image-driven navigation" is the very last thing that is really needed in CMSMS ...

Cheers,

It was requested to provide a user with an interface to quickly and easily associate an image with a page, for use in the template.
Also, if a thumbnail was selectable creating image menus is a natural extension to this.

Maybe I am dense, but I don't get it. Isn't that a prime example for a simple UDT? Why clutter a simple interface?

I don't want to be picky, but I struggle to see the benefit.

If it really were to "quickly and easily associate an image with a page", then why is it limited to images? why not PDF, FLV, SWF etc as well?
And why is the selection limited to uploads/images? My last project had about 300 pages. That would mean 300 files in the selectbox, with no preview.
And why can't you upload right there? you have to leave the "add new page" screen and go to image manager. Then go back and select ...

I do not see that as "quickly and easily" ...

Ok, ok. It is in there, and it won't get out again.
Any chance to have that configurable under "site preferences"?

So if you do not want that, just switch it off?

Cheers,
Alex

If you would like to have this switched on/off using the preferences, you could enter a Feature Request in the Forge...

Perhaps moving the "Image" and "Thumbnail" selects to the "Options" tab would be a better solution.

I've used the option in a site immediately though.

I've made a couple of images the user can select. There just gradients.

The user selected image then gets used as an background image in the menu.
Therefore each menu item has it's own background image/color and child foldouts have the same background image/color.
(Combined with a opaque :hover state it's really nice :) )
So for me it has a powerful uses.

But I can see it might clutter the interface.
