Newbe Question - Getting url from the News Summary Template

Post by worthyashes »

Hi,

I apologise for the desperate Newbe question, but I just want to change the > from the News Summary Template to 'First Page' and 'Last Page' .  I've played with the sample template and created one of my own that lays out exactly like I want to, but I can't get any information out of the $firstpage variable.  I've tried dumping it but I get a NULL.  Obviously it is outputting the anchor and the '<<' text, but all I want is the url so I can change the text.  I have read the manual, and had a good look around the forums and google.  I'm probably missing something basic!!  However i have to say that I am extremely impressed with CMSMS so far!  As a complete novice to the system I have managed to get a site together in 4 days.  It's not huge, 30 or so pages, but I've needed around 6 template pages and various other module templates to be sorted out.  With the comprehensive documentation and the extremely intuative way the system is created it is really easy to create a site.  I also know that my client will have no problem maintaining it on a day to day basis - in fact I'm already contacting all my friends and telling them to use CMSMS!  My only little gripe is that when you get beyond the basics the documentation is a bit more difficult to find.  However that is probably my lack of PHP knowledege (I'm mainly a Flash and Flex nerd).  Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tim

PS I'm also working on a Flash Image Gallery (I know there is one, but I'm doing it to expand my knowledge).  Does anyone know how I could use the Image Manager to output a url rather than an image tag so the user can browse to the images they want and add the urls to a module so I can create a comma seperated list?  Not urgent at all, just thought I'd chuck it in ;)

Hi Tim

I'm more than happy to give you some advice...  but which version of CMSMS are you using? There have been some dramatic changes along the way since 1.04...

As for the Flash gallery... there are a few tricks I use to get the URL... how's your php and MySQL?

Cheers

To your first question...

You need to open the lang. file and change the text/ >> in it to actual words...
