Calendar Event Regisration passing event variables to form

I followed the guidelines for passing event variables to the form via hidden fields via the directions in the following post.

My form submits the data the event title is sent on the the submit form e-mail but I received the following error after the submission.

string(127) "Smarty error: [in temporary template line 1]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'classtitle' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590)"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured out the problem. I was passing the smarty variable without a $
