[Solved] Big upgrade - any advice or warnings?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[Solved] Big upgrade - any advice or warnings?

Post by AnneDonnelly »

Hi,

I've a CMSMS site running version 0.10.4. The following modules are installed:

CMSMailer 1.73.8
Content Aliases 0.4
CSSMenu 1.15
FCKEditor 0.9.7
FeedbackForm 0.9.10
PHPLayers 1.22
TinyMICE 1.2

The client might need some changes to the site. In that case I'd like to upgrade everything to the latest versions.

I realise that PHPLayers is now obsolete, that CSSMenu is included in the core and that FeedbackForm has been replaced by FormBuilder.

Does anyone have any advice or warnings about upgrading such an old system? Would it be easier simply to reinstall from scratch and rebuild the site (there are about 60 content pages)? Or should I gradually upgrade one version at a time  :(

Thanks

Anne

There was a major change to the News module at the 1.1.* point so I would read thru the changelogs to see where it happened, but it isn't a big problem, and yes I would go a few ver. at a time to get to the latest, 1.2 to 1.5.1 is ok for a jump...
