Can't get to cmsms installation wizzard

Post by Dacuz »

Hi all,

So far I was able to get trough to step 7 and unfortunately got stuck again. I can't seem to get to the CMSMS installation wizzard.

I took the following actions:
- I've created an empty MySQL database
- I uploaded the 'cmsmadesimple' folder to /havok.nl/www and renamed it 'cmsms'
- I've chmoded all the indicated directories to 777
- I've created an empty config.php file, uploaded it in the cmsms folde, and chmoded it to 666

Now, when I go to www.havok.nl/cmsms/index.php or http://www.havok.nl/cmsms/install/install.php, I get the following message on my screen:
Cannot modify d:\www\havok.nl\www\cmsms/config.php, please change permissions to allow this
It looks like the config.php file didn't pick up the chmod 666 configuration, although I (re)tried it several times.

Who can help me with this? Thanks in forward!

Ok, just discovered something...

None of the directories/files that I thought I had chmoded actually chmoded  :-\ When I try to set the right properties to f.i. the upload directory, the info window tells me:
site chmod 777 /havok.nl/www/cmsms/uploads
500 'SITE chmod 777 /havok.nl/www/cmsms/uploads': command not understood
I'm using a trial version of Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro (2006.0.1). I just tried chmoding them with SmartFTP, but it gives back a similar message. Anyone knows why the chmoding doesn't work?

PS: If someone can recommend me a free and well working FTP programme, I'd be very glad to hear that.

Hi Dacuz,

I'm not sure about the chmodding not working, someone else can probably help you with that. But a good and free FTP program is FileZilla (that's what I use). Download it here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... p_id=21558

Perhaps I'm too impatient and anxious for answers, since I keep stumbling from barrier to barrier while asking y'all questions on the way. I appreciate every bit of help though :)

I found out that my provider doesn't work with Unix/Linux servers, but with Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2003 webservers. Via a webcontrol panel I'm able to change rights to directories (which I've just done), but not to seperate files. Since the config.php file needs reading and writing rights, I presume this is a serious problem. Is there any chance to do this in an alternative way (via a script within the config.php file or something)?

Can you make the actual directory that holds config.php writable?  If so, remove config.php and run the install again.  The installer will create a config.php with the proper permissions.  After installation is complete, you can change the directory back to the original permissions.
