Upgrading

Post by masada »

I'm actually afraid to upgrade from 1.3.1 to the latest!

I'm seeing way too many conflicting issues and problems when upgrading from other users (many unanswered questions as well) and it is leaving a bad feeling. I have a lot of sensitive changes that I worked hard on and the instructions to make a successful upgrade seems to be arbitrary at best.

The last time I upgraded a lot of my changes to the interface were changed back to default.

The instructions state that I should upload all the "files" but makes no mention of the folders. If I upload the folders as well, would that ADD to the content of the current folders, or create the folders again, thus deleting the current content?

It will only change core files, and yes all folders/files are to be uploaded overwriting existing...

If you added some files/folders it won't touch them, and the content is in the DB not in the folders/files, just run install/upgrade.php, and make a backup of all folders/files on site now and the DB just in case...
