Upgrading 1.0.2 and 1.3.1 to 1.5.1

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Upgrading 1.0.2 and 1.3.1 to 1.5.1

Post by DonMonty25 »

The person who over saw our Internet pages quit and moved on.  Yesterday our school was attacked by a Turkish hacker, and he somehow replaced the cms default with default, html and index.html.  Our CMS is 1.3.1 and some are 1.0.2.  The Windows 2003 server is running on VMware.  The web server is IIS.  The database is MySQL version 5.0.41 and the client is 5.1.11.

I am a little nervous on what I need to do.  :-)   I've downloaded CMS 1.5.1.1 and have read the install.  My questions are the following:

1.  If I "copy all of the files over top of [our] existing installation", will that not delete any information we have placed in the folders, such as images, text, etc?

2.  Can I install 1.5.1.1 or must I first upgrade from 1.3.1 to the next and then to the next level until I reach 1.5.1.1?

3.  Can I upgrade from 1.0.3 or am I going to have trouble?

Are there any white pages I can download to assist me?

Being new at this, I am really nervous.

Hello,

don't "just copy over". See http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php?topic=23539.0
Read the security guide too.
Reinstall from scratch and use a sane backup to recover your content.
See over threads about upgrading "to 1.5.1" for hints. (use Google to search the forums).
