[solved]best way to reorder pages when CMSMS errors on reorder

Post by JeremyBASS »

So on a 1.4.1 site I click the move up arrow one to many times... now a child that was be low a parent along with other is now "equal" to the parent while still being under it.  If I move one of the other children above that unruly child it takes it's place as the "equal" of the parent but still be low...

looks like this

2.4.9 -   -   Critical Care Education Class   <<<<right parent
2.4.9 -   -   -   Arrhythmias from A to V
2.4.9.1 -   -   -   Introduction to Critical Care Nursing
2.4.9.3 -   -   -   Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Any one know how to fix this?

I'd update.. but there seems to be to many issues still with 1.5.1 on the back end and this site needs a stable back end... and 1.4.1 has been very stable up to this point...

thanks....

looked in the data base...

the hierarchy numbers are

00002.00004.00009.00005
00002.00004.00009.00007
00002.00004.00009.00008
00002.00004.00009.00004
00002.00004.00009.00006
00002.00004.00009.00000<<<<
00002.00004.00009.00001
00002.00004.00009.00003

Can I change the problem child 00002.00004.00009.00000 to
00002.00004.00009.00002
?? ??

thanks

try editing the page, and changing the parent to something completely different, then changing it back.

I did try that... and I even created a page to take it's place and then deleted it... not luck on any of those... Thank you for helping...

Think there would be any repercussions on what I just did?

We've seen this issue pop up from time to time.  But we never find a consistent way of reproducing it.
If you could find a consistent way of reproducing it, I'd vote in favor of a 1.5.2 release to put this issue to bed.

yep... I have reproduced this ... :) luck i guess :D...

it seems as I click the up arrow before it has reloaded, as some time is takes a bit, I can still send a oder comend, This has been handy since it can take for ever to move child 9 to become child 1... so what happens is if there is a 2 child positions and I click it 3 times before it loads... it goes to the 0 position...

so in my test it was like this...

00002.00004.00010.00001
00002.00004.00010.00002<<<< what to move this

00002.00004.00010.00000<<<< clicked 3+ times... (doesn't matter after one to many)
00002.00004.00010.00001

I tested that 4 times now...

for what it's worth, drag and drop would be nicer  ;D hehe it's simple in jQuery  ;D sorry Had to say it
