I would like to state this... Most of us like to get straight to it... you stated you had a 500 error... so we are going to wait till you have shown us the 500 error... it's important... so that’s the wasting time part... and it is... but like you said we all have to learn... in general if you get a 500 error you need to check there first... and if your host can't give that to you .. well you may want to switch hosts... I hope this helps... and please understand that no one is saying your question is stupid... just that you did quiet fallow the forum rules... that all..  and if your still having issues come Monday.. let me know and post some of the logs with the 500...

thx. as mentioned the 500 went away and is now replaced with a 404 error.  I'm just going to yank it and try using 1.5.1. (As soon as I get my implementation of smf 2b4 finished.) If that doesn't work then I'll go back to 1.3.1 which I have two instances neither of which have ever had any problems.  (As apparently it isn't straight forward to upgrade form 1.3.1 to 1.5.1.)

so what it is worth... I had a weird bug once that was not in my other sites.. thou all set up the same... so what I'd was copy all files from one to theother... minding pics and what not... and uploaded... and bug was gone... now  that is a realy drity way to go... but it works...


also I think all you have to do is run the upgrade script in the install folder...

I'll give it all a try.  With my 1.3.1 sites I'll make a whole copy of them database and all and try the upgrade on the copy.  If that works then I'll go for the gusto.  Thanks.
