CMSMS + me

Post by b_electro »

I'm totally stoked about the potential of CMSMS and I'm considering putting this static site on it:
www.tarantic.com

Questions:
Any layout or design elements in my existing site that CMSMS would not be able to reproduce faithfully?
Any suggestions on which module would work best for the Releases section? I need something that can contain all the different releases, span multiple pages, and be ordered sequentially by date. Maybe the photo gallery module?

Thank you,
B

Hey B,

there are several options to create what you desire ;D amongst other options, the content_dump plug-in might be a great solution for your release section.

Haha, Nils is a good promoter of his excellent content_dump plugin :D

But I actually think the very powerful and customizable News module is an easier option. The News module comes in the default install. By changing the summary- and detail templates and adding custom image fields to your news, you can fairly easy get all the functionality of your Releases section (and more, eg RSS!).

You also need something like the Play module, or perhaps the Enhanced XSPF module to play the mp3-files. (I do not have very much experience of these, search the forum to find out more.)

Good luck!

Great replies- THANKS! I'll check out the modules you mention, however, would I really need a Play module if my existing MP3 audio player works? Well, just thinking out loud, but yeah I would definitely want to keep my Wimpy players b/c I love the functionality and customization options.

Thank you,

Usually, and that's the great thing about CMSMS, you can keep your existing solutions if you really want to. It can be pretty easy to write a small tag that wraps up your mp3 with your favourite player...
