CMS New guy

Post by cardi777 »

Hi all,  :)

I need to make for myself a website with news, promotions, image gallery, and a menu list (like a food menu). I am an experienced webmaster but i havn't done that much with php. I was hoping I could use something like this CMS to do the backend and apply its code the the HTML. Looking for the best free product to start sharping my skills on! This CMS looks pretty promising, but I thought I would ask around here to see if I am on the money.

Is this the kind of CMS that can do what I wanting?

Cheers,
Doug

Hello Doug,

I think it is worth a try. CMSms installer has a (selected) option to install sample content which explains main feature and allows you to play with the product to decide by yourself if it fits your needs. As an experienced webmaster, check the requirements and you can test within minutes the core and then some modules.
Of course you can read all the doc and the FAQ too ;)

If you are like myself and can't write PHP fluently, Smarty is easy to learn. If you understand a decent amount of basic PHP functions, a lot of Smarty will make sense to you. It's basically a front-end for PHP creation on the fly. I highly suggest CMSMS to both seasoned developers/designers and the novice. It's easy to integrate, very scalable and unobtrusive.
