Fishing Site

Post by JeremyBASS »

Thought I'd share... It's not fully done but I was forced to place it and work on the fly... anyways
http://hellscanyonsportfishing.com/

right now it sports
  • a high b rating from yahoo[br](would be an "A" if I could get stylesheet.php?cssid=31&mediatype=screen to be included in the head)
  • fully works on ~95% of current browsers and versions (minuse a few small items in process)
  • sites almost fully validates on every page (still some clean up)
still to do:
all the cache setting... it's still stright to the db and creating the page everytime...

There is alot of things missing but this is a start... hope you like it...

@confiq  Flash block is on the list... but is low on the list of fixes... sorry but it's not cost effective to target flash block users too few... but it is on the list...

>>>even when i allow the flash it hangs there until I remove z-index and position relative from body
I’m sorry. what are you meaning... if you would be so kind to send a screen shot that would be great as this has been tested one 10+ machines so this would be new... any information on your setup would be great....

the testing was done on:
1 98 using IE6
1 xp useing IE6
5 xp using IE 7.0.5730.11  (with and without SP2) / FF /safari / opera
2 Vista machines or IE7.0.5730.16 / FF /safari / opera
and a few others viewed by others... so any information you can provide on you abnormality would be helpful... that you...

lol... sorry there are too few of your set ups to be cost effective to fix in the first rounds... but your on the list... you fall in the ~5% not targeted or supported... but... you are on the list :)

the paid for target market is
pcs and macs(limited supoort right now) IE6 and IE7 FF

people with other set ups are mostly developers and my client has decided to thumb his nose at you... but I'm fixing it on my time... so you'll see it... already have the work around for flash block... just have to test and set... your group I think should be accounted for in two weeks… or so… you just have you system to locked down…

thanks for the help… if you would be so kind.. I’d like to hit you up when I get to your group of systems…

Yeah sure... anyway good luck with SEO.

Turn off javascript and you'll see why I don't need any luck with SEO... :D all the stuff is non-intrusive... I'm using the fact that bots and SEs can't use (limited use) js to deal with this...

thanks for the help...

Sorry JeremyBASS, but what about the zillions of mobile/PDA's out there and the huge explosion of netbooks whose Flash, is at best, slow. It doesn't actually seem to work very well in Firefox 3 on my iMac? very jumpy? Actually its the same in all my browsers, it flat-lines the processor?

>>>very jumpy?
yeah it's the flipin flv file... thats the hold up... I told my bosses that the 500mhz to 1ghz range would suffer.... they still wanted it... the flash animation  worked on two 98/XP 500mhz systems w/ 128 ram  great...

the plan for mobile/PDA's is a little different... it's a growing site... and it got published like a month earlier then it should have... thank for the feedback... they help push this along...

Mmm and mine is a 2Ghz iMac with 2GB memory...

How is that....???  :o granted I’ve only tested PCs... but all PCs have had ok to great reaction time to the site...

the testing was done on:
1 98 using IE6 500mhz 128ram (yahoo messenger loaded for cpu weight tests)
1 xp using IE6 500mhz 128ram (yahoo messenger loaded for cpu weight tests)
5 xp using IE 7.0.5730.11 (with and without SP2) / FF /safari / opera (Heavily loaded for cpu weight tests)
2 Vista machines or IE7.0.5730.16 / FF /safari / opera (Heavily loaded for cpu weight tests)

soo... I guess what I’ve saying is..... it should work just fine for you.... only 7-8 pieces of flash going at any time... they are rendered once by the flash api so there should be no real hit for "your" system in the long run...

basically... if you can down load 120kbs and visit youtube you should be fine...????

thanks for the help... I'll investigate why these pcs are outperforming your mac... ;) hehe :D
again thank you

I'm finding similar problems on a 2Ghz PC with 512 M ram using Firefox 3. The system slows to a crawl as the site goes into a loop of continually loading for about 10 minutes. Then, every page takes about 3-4 minutes to load.

Also, some of the text is outside the boxes on the right column - see screenshot.
