NMS HTML template, what should it look like?

Hi Guys,

I'm very new to NMS and, quite honestly, I find it quite confusing, particularly the templates/plain text/html aspect. I've set up a message with links to CMS pages and I use the Sample template. Now, is this ok? I don't understand when/how to use HTML, or just plain text.

I have tried it and I'm getting into trouble. The server hangs for 25 mins every time I process. I don't recieve any emails and I can't do anything for that time, the site and admin is gone! So I'm wondering whether this is related to the message template I'm using (sample). CMSmailer uses mail to send emails and I've tested that ok. I can't keep 'experimenting' because the server admins are getting quite irate so I need to nail this.

I feel lost at sea here, and I really am willing to pay for some proper help with this, so if anyone can help I'd be very grateful.
