Updated pages do not show on frontend

Post by carltonforrester »

This is my first time using CMSMS (I inherited a project from another developer).  I'm used to MS oriented sites and so I use IIS on my webserver.  I've installed everything (database, php for IIS, CMSMS, etc.) and everything has run great for several months.  Now my client wants to update a few pages and when we update the pages (appy and submit) the changes do not show on the frontend site.  The changes are saved and are visible in the admin site.

Is there something I'm missing here?  Is there an approval process or something that must take place before the page changes are visible to the public?

I'm using version 1.0.8 "Kona".

Please let me know if you need any additional information.  I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks!!

First, you should update your CMSMS to the newest version, because your CMS installation is vulnerable and you can expect serious hacks.
Concerning your problem - try to go to Global Settings and Clear cache. Maybe this will help the content to show updated on the front page.

Thanks for the quick response!  I tried clearing the cache.  When I click the clear button there is a noticeable time delay and then the page goes white with no content.  Is this normal?  If it is, it's not working because I see the old content on the site still.

About upgrading, how painful is the process?  Is it just a matter of running an install or copying files or does it take a lot of work?

Well, your version is very old, so it is difficult to say what is wrong.

Upgrading to a newer version is kind of easy.
Just upload the files and go to website.com/install/upgrade.php

Of course, it is recommendable to backup all your data. Would be even better to test upgrading your website on a separate, developers, server.

Problem solved!!  I just needed to add write permissions to the tmp folder.

Thanks for your help.
