[SOLVED] Formating disappear when pasting content

Post by volcanoboy »

Hi,

I've just encountered a problem i've never had before. On my latest webproject using CMS Made Simple 1.4.1 "Spring Garden", no modules. Nothing fancy at all.

Whenever i try to paste something into the Tiny MCE window absolutely all my formating just disappear. It can be only a single word and my whole content block just turns into a giant textblock with absolutely no formating.

...anyone else had this problem?

What kind of lines are you pasting, is there code or special character in the text?

if i paste into the html window it's not a problem.

Example:

I have 3 paragraphs with text. All have bold Heading:

Paragraph 1
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Quisque sit amet purus. In id quam. Sed vestibulum lectus id neque. Sed malesuada fringilla felis. Cras ultricies. Phasellus at libero. Morbi cursus luctus turpis.

Paragraph 2
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Quisque sit amet purus. In id quam. Sed vestibulum lectus id neque. Sed malesuada fringilla felis. Cras ultricies. Phasellus at libero. Morbi cursus luctus turpis.

Paragraph 3
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Quisque sit amet purus. In id quam. Sed vestibulum lectus id neque. Sed malesuada fringilla felis. Cras ultricies. Phasellus at libero. Morbi cursus luctus turpis.

If forexample i copy the word Lorem and paste it anywhere in the Tiny MCE window...I'm left with this:

Paragraph 1Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Quisque sit amet purus. In id quam. Sed vestibulum lectus id neque. Sed malesuada fringilla felis. Cras ultricies. Phasellus at libero. Morbi cursus luctus turpis.Paragraph 2Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Quisque sit amet purus. In id quam. Sed vestibulum lectus id neque. Sed malesuada fringilla felis. Cras ultricies. Phasellus at libero. Morbi cursus luctus turpis.Paragraph 3Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Quisque sit amet purus. In id quam. Sed vestibulum lectus id neque. Sed malesuada fringilla felis. Cras ultricies. Phasellus at libero. Morbi cursus luctus turpis.

I can not undo this change either...i have to cancel and go back and do it again manually..

Hi,

I've now tested this on pretty much all the cmsms sites i've done the last year. About 10 alltogether. All the older versions works fine. But every site using 1.4.1 "Spring Garden" have this problem. All my sites are hosted at the same host and all of them are on the same server.

Don't know if it matters but i'm on a mac running OSX 10.4. using Firefox 3.0 or Safari for updates.

I also have this problem.  It started after I upgraded to 1.4.1 from 1.2.5 .
Any paste will destroy all formatting.
Mac OS-X 10.5.5

I have problems with FireFox on Mac icw TinyMCE...
Highly annoying. But I'm not sure who to "blame"... Firefox, TinyMCE?

I switched to Camino for text editing...  ::)

Ok, I  tested all the browsers I have on my Mac.
I tested by pasting a single line of text into existing content and looked for removal of formatting.

Native Mac Browsers

Safari 3.1.2  FAIL
Firefox 3.0.1 FAIL
Opera 9.5.2 WORKS
Camino 1.6.4 WORKS

Mac Parallels PC emulator running Windows 2000

IE 6.0.28 WORKS
Firefox 2.0.0.12  WORKS

So, there you have it.  The two most popular browsers for Mac fail to work properly with the TinyMCE supplied with CMS Made Simple 1.4.1.   However,  version 1.2.x and Firefox for Mac got along fine.

well atleast it's a mac problem then. Thankfully most of our clients are PC users and i was afraid i was sending of buggy sites. I'll live with doing updates on Camino for those sites but sure hope this can get fixed in the next release.

Will go back to 1.2.x for my next site...

Maybe it's not necessary.
In 1.3+ and 1.4+ Tiny module exit with simplepaste plugin that has a few problems.

I think that new Tiny release (2.4.7) have already paste plugin (same of CMSMS 1.2+)

It looks like my TinyMCE is version 2.4.5. When I look at the TinyMCEsite their version is now 3.2.0.1.
Can i just replace my current version with this one?

Yup. The 2.4.7 version works like it should. So to anyone with the same problem, install the 2.4.7 version found here: http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/frs/downlo ... -2.4.7.zip

Problem solved :-)
