Hello,
The committee of out yacht club www.wsv-herkingen.nl has requested the following functionality. Members / or people passing by the website, who would like to leave a story/experience in relation to water(sport), should get that possibility with logging into the website. But before placing, the secretary has to have a look at it and decides whether or not to place it.
I thought about the news+comments option. One disadvantage, if a lot of stories are going to be placed (I hope so), than searching and keeping on overview of posted stories will quit a job, I guess.
Anyone who has a suggestion for a route to follow?
If this question is placed in the wrong board, I'm sorry for that. This was the closed I could think of.
Thanks in advance for your help and support,
Gregor
Suggestions to implement this functionality
Re: Suggestions to implement this functionality
Gregor,
News at least is a good start, since it has plenty of parameters to place the content, based upon the category, on various pages. What crosses my mind is that with no login, there might be spam. The module Guestbook has some functionality to get a grip on that with the 'bad words' functionality. Next to this, the message entered is logged with the ip address it came from.
So I would consider either using the entry page of guestbook and copy over the parts that may be published (filtering the category as well). Or entry in guestbook and once filtered automatically copy to news module.
Yet another alternative would be to have a form that uses the settings as in Guestbook and then saves the data in the News module tables.
This was more on a idea generation base then a solution base

Thanks Duketown (comes from Duke Ellington??),
I'll look into your suggestion. To forecome spam via News, maybe Captcha could be of any help. Is there a standard/easy way to copy a questbook item into news?
While looking at another site, I saw them using a forum as a place to put stories etc. Have to look into that one as well.
