NMS2 causing server problems? Here is what they said...

Post by sarah_h »

Hi all,

We have a site running NMS 2 and have a subscriber list of some 1200 people. Now everything has been working and the site admins have been able to create messages and jobs and have been able to send emails. Recently however sending a job has not working with the NMS screen processing messages sticking at 0!

I recieved a message from the server admins who said
In the past couple of days i have had to kill a number of server
processes which have gone into a spin while running code:

/admin/moduleinterface.php?mact=NMS,m1_,process_queue,0&m1_...
Now I don't know what this means or implies so does anyone have any clues as to the possible problem?

there are some issues. Depends on your server, nms and the size of the message that you´re sending. I recommend increase the time between each message in admin and if possible ask your admin to set php memory limit higher.

Try something like 5 seconds between each message. It will take much longer to send the newletter, but will reduce the server load.

5 * 1200 = 6000
6000 / 60 = 100

100 minutes = 1h 40m (estimated time to proccess all queue )

If that goes ok, you can try to lower the time between each message.

Also inform us about you server information, cmsms and nms versions.

Good Luck!

Thanks viebig for getting back to me. I'll try setting up using yor suggestions, but the problem I'm seeing is that NMS doesn't even start! It shows 'sending 0 of xxx' and just hangs! Then I get a caustic message from the server admins about mysql running out of control! Everything WAS working fine and so I'm thinking that the server people have changed something but they'll deny it of course!

I'll post back here when I know more.

Thanks again.

We are having exactly the same problem, is there any solution. Or is it some kind of memory overload.

Would be glad for help. :)
