Latest 1.4.1 install does not work on OS X Xampp

Hi all,

I'm trying to runCMS Made Simple 1.4.1, I'm using PHP 5.2.2, and MySQL 5.0.41 . This is all working with Apache 2.2.4 running on OS X 10.5.4 on Xampp done locally.

I've tested previous versions, all of which seem to work fine up until this 1.4+ update, when I do a fresh install I receive a 403 Forbidden error when I try to install.

Any ideas as to what may be going on?

It may be trying to test out going connections, read first sticky in this thread...

Read the first sticky and tried all the above.

The only clue I have now is from the server logs:

[crit] [client ::1] (13)Permission denied: /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/htdocs/why/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable

I tried to create an htaccess file and grant it all read/write and I still receive the same error?
