Is there a quick way to upload cms made simple onto my site

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Is there a quick way to upload cms made simple onto my site

Post by Overlander »

Ok

I downloaded cms made simple from the net....took a few seconds ( I have broadband)

I the ftp'ed the cms made simple folder to my site....it took over an hour later (1hr 12 mins) to load.

I want to use cms made simple for a couple of sites but cant spare an hr to upload program.

Can I zip the cmsms folder or something to try and reduce upload time to my site?

thanks

That doesn't make any sense- unzipped, the file is only 3.45mb.  I realize that upload speeds are usually a mere percentage of the downloads speeds offered by most broadband companies, but >60mins for ~3.5mb is ludicrous.  I'd contact your ISP.

In the meantime, you might try experimenting with removing items from the admin, modules, and lib subfolders (modules probably being your best bet), as these appear to be using the bulk of the filesize.  Of course, that requires more experimenting and uploading, which probably defeats yours purpose.  Disclaimer: I'm a novice end-user and can't stress enough that removing items from the distro might wreak havoc on its functionality. :)

Another option: stick around and become a contributing member, maybe you can spearhead a push for a tiny, barebones CMSMS package.

I have comcast broadband wireless in California ... it took me an hour to upload files also. I think they throttle outgoing speed ...
