Has anyone developed a way to display user info on the public side?

Has anyone developed a way to display user info on the public side including an image of a user, besides hard coding it in a page?

I tried the FEU and was able to display a user but not an the photo of the user and didn't see a way of formating the results.

For example:
Photo of user
Name
email
bio

I've had this done using custom programming of the Admin users and displaying them on the front however I'm unable to figure out a way using the FEU mod out of the box.

what about the CompanyDirectory module?  never used it, but it sounds like it could be used for this.
