CMSMS with two directories/folders ...

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

CMSMS with two directories/folders ...

Post by DonnaNJ »

I am installing CMSMS for our church site .. say

www.chuch.com

Then there is a subfolder / subdirectory called school.

so www.church.com/school

school will have a different template.

Can I make this work with CMSMS w/o having two installs of CMSMS (is that even possible ?)

Thanks

Donna

If you're using pretty URLs, then you can make it look as though you have a school directory even though it doesn't actually exist. Create a parent "School" menu item and create child pages under that and apply your other template to them. So to answer your question: No, you don't need 2 installs of CMSMS.

Hope that helps.

In short, no you only need to install cms once but you do need to activate Pretty URLS (check out the FAQ on the CMSMS Official Site)

Now you have a home page which is what you see when you go to www.church.com

You then create a new page called School and change the content type to "SectionHeader"

Then you create a page that has the parent "School" which is also chosen inside the page editing section

So when the user clicks on this page, say it's called About The School the URL will look like

www.church.com/school/about-the-school

Also 'School' will not be an accessible page, just a holder for the content that falls under the school catergory

@Templates - Choose what template to use for each page by using the drop down menu made available when you try to edit the page content for each page

I have actually used 6 templates in the same site

Hi, I know this posting is a bit old. I tried to create a subfolder this way, but it didn´t work. I created a section header called "politics". Then I created a site called "testsite"
The politics link appears in the menu but it just shows this: "http://mysite.de/#".
The page which has politics as a parent just appears as: http://mysite.de/testsite.html"

Coud there be missing something in the menu-manager?

I get correct breadcrumbs, like "politics/testsite.html", but normally i think the folders should be created also this way. I hope, there is a simple solution to this and that im just a bit stupid.

Thanks for any help,
Marc
