[Solved] My anchor links are not working. Any ideas why?

Post by djkirstyjay »

Hi peeps!

Another prob. I have built and FAQ page where the questions are at the top, then you click on the link and it 'should' skip to the anchor in the page, however clicking the link takes you to the hompage!? ???

The code is correct, so does anyone know why it is doing this? I really don't want to have to do it using the news module, which is the other option, as it will be a right ballache.

Ta!

Code: Select all

<strong><ol>
<li><a title="can the air conditioning unit vent though a 4 inch duct" href="#1">Can the unit vent through a standard 4 inch duct like a portable unit generally does?</a></li>
<li><a title="what sort of air conditioning hole duct is needed in tenerife" href="#2">What sort of hole fitting is required for this unit? What can the min/max thickness of the wall be?</a></li>
<li><a title="is plumbing needed for air onditioning in tenerife" href="#3">Is there any plumbing required?</a></li>
<li><a title="Can you istall the sir conditioning unit using DIY" href="#4">Is the installation entirely DIY or does it require specialist equipment?</a></li>
<li><a title="does the air conditioning unit come with installation instructions" href="#5">Does it come with all parts and installation instructions?</a></li>
<li><a title="is there a guarantee with the air conditioning unit" href="#6">Does the unit come with any guarantee?</a></li>
<li><a title="how much condensate does the air conditioning unit make in tenerife" href="#7">How much codensate does this machine make?</a></li>
<li><a title="is the air conditioning unit similar to expelair digitemp" href="#8">Is this unit similar to an 'expelair digitemp'? </a><br /></li>
<li><a title="can the air conditioning unit be installed at any height in tenerife" href="#9">Can it be sensibly installed at any height?</a></li>
</ol></strong>
<p style="border-bottom: 1px dashed #000;"><a name="1"></a></p>
<p><strong>Can the unit vent through a standard 4 inch duct like a portable unit generally does?</strong></p>
<p>Unfortunately not, the unit is designed to be piped through the wall to external grille, all pipework is included with the unit.<a name="2"></a></p>
<p><strong>What sort of hole fitting is required for this unit?</strong></p>
<p>There needs to be two 162mm cores and then a 16mm core for the condensate drain.<a name="3"></a></p>
<p><strong>What can the min/max thickness of the wall be? </strong></p>
<p>The minimum and maximum thickness of the wall should be 2 inches and 24 inches respectively.<a name="4"></a></p>
<p><strong>Is there any plumbing required? </strong></p>
<p>No, the unit does not require any plumbing.<a name="5"></a></p>
<p><strong>Is the installation entirely DIY or does it require specialist equipment?</strong></p>
<p>Unit installation would require only a core drill, which can be hired from any suitable hire shop.<a name="6"></a></p>
<p><strong>Does it come with all materials, parts and installation instructions?</strong></p>
<p>Yes, all the parts and instructions are included.<a name="7"></a></p>
<p><strong>Does the unit come with any guarantee?</strong></p>
<p>The item comes with a full return-to-base guarantee. If the unit cannot be repaired within a copule of days then it will be replaced.<a name="8"></a></p>
<p><strong>How much codensate does this machine make?</strong></p>
<p>The unit can extract 1.8litres per hour in cooling mode, dependent upon the atmospheric conditions.<a name="9"></a></p>
<p><strong>Is this unit similar to an 'expelair digitemp'?</strong></p>
<p>Yes the unit is similar, except it is more powerful and able to do both cooling and heating.</p>

Well... I tried the anchor tag and that didn't work either, so I've just deleted the anchors and have a list.

Bit annoying that a simple thing like anchors won't work though ???

The problem in this case is, that it places the anchor (#name) behind index.php, which takes you back to the main page again. I've tried it aswell, and haven't got it work just yet. Wordpress also suffers from this same kind of 'error'.

Actually, it IS possible, as follows:

instead of linking to: #1, link to: domain/index.php?page=faq-s#1

That should do the trick actually.

Hmmmm! Once again you are the man! I didn't think of that solution.

I will give it a go in a bit and report back, as I'm on a content mission at the moment, but TA! :D

For your own and our convenience, can you post a small message if the problem is solved and mark up the topic [Solved]? Thanks in advance :).
