Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Installation Successful: Blank page?

Post by Sererena »

I followed all the instructions to start CMSms, but it gives me a blank page... actually it gives me this page: --link removed--
I haven't turned the site off, in fact I can't even access the admin panel to do that.  I turned debug on in config.php and it doesn't even given me an error message... I'm totally stumped. @_@

Any help?

I would go for a total reinstall.  Sounds like something got messed up.

Remove config.php and try it again...

Well... I completely deleted the folder and restarted everything... now I don't eve get the "Closed for maintenance link."  This is I think the fourth time I tried to install it.  I even tried to install it with a different computer, in case it was the connection... Other things I've installed have been working fine.

This makes me sad, I was really excited about using CMSms... I tried it out on OS-CMS and I really liked it, but now I can't even get it to work.

Ok... I have to follow the instructions better next time...

In case anyone else has these mistakes, this is what I believe caused them:
-I unchecked "create tables" because I misunderstood and thought that it would erase any other tables being used by other applications.  SO IF YOU ARE INSTALLING FOR THE FIRST TIME MAKE SURE IT IS CHECKED OFF. (Just thought I'd make it clear was there a chance
-Changing the MySQL type to "MySQL 4.1+"  Apparently I am using 4.1.15, but I read on another thread to leave it switched to "MySQL 3 and 4.0."  Should that maybe be noted or clarified in the quick_install guide? http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/quick_install.shtml

Thanks for your help, wishy, and anyone else who may have looked into it.
