Nuno,
I don't prefer you to remove your name from the footer. Credit should be given when credit is due! If some people, for some reason, prefers the footer to be "clean", then they can either design their own theme, or simply edit the footer themselves. The credit to your name is not an "requirements and/or usage restriction", as Kermit said, since you allow it to be removed. So please don't remove your name in the default version (for the exact reasons you cited from Ted and Calguy).
That said, I liked Kermit's idea of an "about CMSMS" page. Perhaps the easiest way to implement this is through the admin theme? A link somewhere (in the footer?) that opens a simple popup (or a hidden div) with short information about CMSMS. In this about text, credit can be given to the develop team AND to the theme designer.
What do you think?

Malware link on NCleanGrey theme footer?
Re: Malware link on NCleanGrey theme footer?
With respect to Nuno I'll not remove his link in admin theme.
I think that my customers should have the rights to know who made the template.

We still love you! You've done a fantastic job with the admin template.
Personally, I like the idea of the credits page, perhaps alongside the 'System Information' link on the 'Site Admin' menu. Would I like that more than version 2? - hell no!

Tacky? Seriously?
People donate their time. Nuno put in MANY hours to make this theme... the least he can do is possibly get a little bit of work out of it. If he's not working, or spending all this time selling his company, how is he supposed to be able to work FOR FREE on our project?
I swear, people take this whole "free software is a lifestyle" stuff too seriously. It's either a hobby or a business model. And I know for me, I have better hobbies I can be doing...
I told Nuno to put his name on there, as he wasn't originally going to. I want him to get work. I want him to not have to spend his time selling so he can do great things for us. Not get hassled about his gorgeous theme that was about 2 years overdue.
And in the future, these issues should be directed to me. Not "decided" upon on the forums. I'm the person in charge of direction of this project and it's policies. And I'm around a lot more these days...
Thanks.

Re: Malware link on NCleanGrey theme footer?
Good post, Ted.
I'm fully on-board with giving credit where credit is due, but I also see Kermit's point that putting the credit directly in the footer could be perceived as detracting from Nuno's otherwise clean, professional, and (as you noted) long-overdue theme. (I think I've said this in another post as well, but I'll say it again - EXCELLENT WORK, Nuno!! You absolutely deserve credit for your work!)
I do like the idea of an "About" or "Credits" tab in the Admin, or maybe it should be a sub-category of the new "CMS" tab?

Re: Malware link on NCleanGrey theme footer?
As being the original poster of what has become more than a discussion about a potential security risk, I would like to give a few last comments.
I decided to use the forum to post my concern. - Could I have done differently?
The post was made only to warn about a potential security risk, and you remove the risk by removing the link - but that was not the primary intention.
I see no problem of giving credit for peoples work, and I have never complained about the link to nuno's profile.
I am confident that everything necessary will be done to keep the links clean. I have definitely not meet any indifferent attitudes.
As a plain humble daily user of cmsms, I will now wait for coming releases, and follow what happens.
Thank you all, and keep up the good spirit.

Yeah, your post in forum it's ok (i think ... well i'm not sure any more...)

Re: Malware link on NCleanGrey theme footer?
To be honest I don't understand how the discussion got from a possible insecure link to taking nuno's name out
of course nuno's name should still be there, its not even up to Ted really
because in all cases themes should get credit. A link (not name, text, etc) that brings up questions can be dealt with and is better removed and then only respecting licenses, can't be anymore obvious than that...my 2 cents
