Titles for new pages

Post by eberis »

I have a question regarding titles for new pages. I defined titles and meta information for each page manually. Every page is showing its unique title. My question is: if I add new pages, can I define global titles and meta information settings so it is generated automatically? (doesn’t need to be unique in case I forget to add the titles to new pages)

Thank you

How did you "I defined titles and meta information for each page manually"?

When you use the {title} tag it puts the title, made when edit/creating page which is mandatory, of the page there, {metadata} tag pulls from the metadata field in Site Admin > Global Settings and from the same thing in the options tab in edit page mode...

So as long as you have them in your template where you want it happens, look at default templates to see how they are used there...

Thanks, I had the titles defined with {title} and {metadata}, which I removed to allow me to use individual titles and meta information for better seo. Is it possibale to have one titls for for new pages or do I need to add them manually from now?

I am new to this CMS.

Thanks

You add titles to pages when you create them in Content » Pages » Edit Page: name/Content » Pages » Add New Content...

First is Content Type: then Title: then Menu Text:  These are individual for each page, title and menu text...

{title} can/should be used in in the {title} - {sitename} this will show in title bar of browser as Title of Page - My Site Name  ,site name is set when installing and can be changed in global settings...

Thanks.
I will try that.  :)

One more question. If pages are added according to templates, can I add the title seperatly for each one. I noticed that if you set up a template all the pages that belong to the template have the same title name.

Thanks
