Help with re-installation of cms [SOLVED]

Post by fdingen »

Hello,

Currently I've installed CMS in www.domain.com/home   this to test my website and if I'am able to set it up  ;)

CMS has been very helpfull and I want to set it to my domain.com location.

What do I need to do?

Step 1: create a copy in sql of my database (backup)
Step 2: delete domain.com/home folder
Step 3: delete / clean up my sql-database
Step 4: reinstall cms (latest version) in root directory
Step 5: update my sql database with my backup

Can someone confirm if this is the proper solution?  I want to set back the latest backup because it allready contains a lot of data. Also I dont want to re-route from domain.com to domain.com/home.

Thanks for any help or tips.

Frans

Well, you dont't need to reinstall in root. Just move it after your done.
So I would first finish the site in the /home/ directory with all the data.

Then, remove the files in the root directory. Of course a backup is always nice.

Move the /home/ folder to root

In your favourite text-editor, change the path information in the config.php file.

And of course, if you use any reference to full URL's you will need to change those (as in ).

If I understand you correctly..

Hello,

please search (with google) before posting.

Moving to root only require paths changing in config.php but backups never hurt as said above.
