Install error when installing on a remote host

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Install error when installing on a remote host

Post by TestType »

Hi. I'm running CMS Made Simple 1.4. I'm trying to install it on a host provider machine that is running PHP 4.3.10, MySQL 3.23.58 and Apache 1.3.27 on Linux. I set it up via FTP using FTPzilla.

when I go to install I get the following error messages:
Warning: main(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/vefir/fyrirtaeki/t/www.tekton.is/www/cms/fileloc.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (.:/var/tmp) in /vefir/fyrirtaeki/t/www.tekton.is/www/cms/install/index.php on line 40

Warning: main(/vefir/fyrirtaeki/t/www.tekton.is/www/cms/fileloc.php): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in /vefir/fyrirtaeki/t/www.tekton.is/www/cms/install/index.php on line 40

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/vefir/fyrirtaeki/t/www.tekton.is/www/cms/fileloc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/apache-1.3.27/php/lib/php') in /vefir/fyrirtaeki/t/www.tekton.is/www/cms/install/index.php on line 40
I do not have priviliges to upload or modify .htaccess files on the machine but I did upload them as htaccess.txt and my service provider changed them to .htaccess. However since I can't access them I can't really try the .htaccess edits suggested in the troubleshooting section.

Could it be a permission issue? I CHMOD changed the specified directories to 777 as instructed although I have no idea if it was required or not on this server.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Sounds like they have it locked down pretty tight or the php they have is not setup right, htaccess is something I would mess with after the install, no need for it during install...

You sure chmod permissions took/stuck/worked?...

Are they real inexpensive host?...
