Installing on Windows -

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Installing on Windows -

Post by rexworthy »

OK, so I am a first time user trying to install this on windows which is supported. (I did read the requirements page and I have very strong windows stikks. In addition I have no Unix experience or servers that I could possibly run this on so I have little or no choice!) :(

I have so far installed:
- IIS 6 (standard windows component)
- mysql 6 (reuirement was mysql 4, 5, - not sure if you've just not updated this for 6 yet?)
- PHP 5.2 (requirement was  for version 4.5+ so this is ok)

When installing PHP there are a lot of choices as to what module to install (and this appears to be an either/or rather than multiple) There are three choices for IIS;- ISAPI, CGI, FASTCGI I tried ISAPI and then after reading the php documentation is suggests that there is only an auto configuring option for CGI which is what I then tried next.

Once completed I coppied the contents of the cmsmadesimple folderinto the IISroot folder (so that the index.php was alongside index.html. I then modified the the document properties so that index.php was added to the list and placed at the top of the priority list.

However...
it seems that I cannot even browse to the index.php either form the server itself or from a remote browser ( have checked connectivity to the machine and can browse to an alternative html page index.html and get the normal under construction)

So firstly, could you please provide some guidance on your preference as to the configuration of php - which module are you expecting to be installed and are there any additional files that I should edit once installed and if so what should these be edited to include? and from there, where on earth and I going wrong??!?! ???

Your help would be very much appreciated as it seems that I am falling at the first hurdle!

many thanks
Ben

If you are just trying CMSMS on your computer there is no easier way then to use XAMPP...
