Safari doesn't pick up certain css layout styles, version 1.4

Safari doesn't pick up certain css layout styles, version 1.4

I had this same problem on version 1.3 but never before. I had to hardcode some of the layout styles in the template in {literal} tags otherwise safari doesn't display the styles.

Why is this happening? It's clearly a cmsms issue that I was hoping would be resolved in 1.4. So far, 1.4 looks great...but this bug is a pain to always have to code the workaround.
