I could not download COMMENTS module
Re: I could not download COMMENTS module
Go to forge and download it unpack and upload to modules folder...
Re: I could not download COMMENTS module
I too had the same problem, and I have now downloaded the Comments module as .tar.gz, unzipped it, uploaded it via ftp into the Modules folder, refreshed the hosting space ...
and now what?
Is there another step after this?
The Comments Module does not appear in the 'Contents' tab. I logged out and logged back in, but it's not visible.
Can someone please help me to understand how I now access Comments?
I've used it successfully before on another site, just want it to work with a new site.
On a separate issue, but still Comments module - how can I edit Comments with wysiwyg? It drives me nuts to have to hand code all my formatting for each Comment.
Thanks in advance!

Hello WebGirl
Long time no see...
Once you have it uploaded go to extensions > modules then hit the install link to the right of module name...
Do you mean editing/making comments in front end? I have used tiny for comments and added smileys...

ALMOST SOLVED : I could not download COMMENTS module
Hi Mark, nice to be back
So I went to EXTENSIONS > MODULES as you mention above, but Comments doesn't appear in the list.
So this time I went to the Forge and downloaded the .xml file, then went back to EXTENSIONS > MODULES and scrolled to the bottom of the screen, then I browsed my desktop for the downloaded .xml file, and uploaded it - and it now appears under the EXTENSIONS > MODULES list - phew!
So I've installed it, and it works
Thanks Mark!
Now I just need to do 2 more things - on this client's page:

I need to:
- shorten the name, email and website field lengths - but can't find where (see field ends in red circle)
- I managed to shorten the textarea in stylesheet to 300px
- now when I login to moderate Comments, I want to be able to see a wysiwyg editor, so I can 'style' my responses and possibly add small images ... can I do this?
You're the guru - I look forward to hearing from you!
Cheers

Hmm, yes I went to EXTENSIONS > MODULE MANAGER > COMMENTS and clicked the link to Install again, but I get the same error message.Once you have it uploaded go to extensions > modules then hit the install link to the right of module name...

Re: I could not download COMMENTS module
Sorry been real busy lately...
If you go to page source view you will/should see some ID or maybe class call for those and then you can use those to style them...

Re: I could not download COMMENTS module
Hi Mark,
Thanks for getting back to me.
ITEM 1
======
I tried the Help link, the Community Help link, the forums. I saw the styling in the html of the live page, but I couldn't find WHERE this information comes from - which stylesheet? I've been going through them line by line but I can't find anything
I went to CONTENT/COMMENTS, COMMENT DISPLAY TEMPLATE TAB - but this is for the layout, not styles
I went to CONTENT/COMMENTS, OPTIONS TAB - but this is for spam protect and notify
I went to LAYOUT/TEMPLATE, to see which stylesheets are attached, but didn't find anything to do with comments apart from the TEXTAREA width I added to the stylesheet (from your earlier comments):
But I can't find anywhere to change the MAXLENGTH of the fields:
Sorry if I sound like an eejit, but I just can't find where any of the COMMENTS design details are stored.
Or - are you saying I should write my own css to cover them? I will try that - but I really had no idea how to do that with field length etc.
Any tips for a COMMENTS Newbie would be greatly appreciated - I've spent nearly a week trying to sort this out.
ITEM 2
======
Re your comment:
In the Control Panel CONTENT/COMMENTS, I want to be able to style the text - with a wysiwyg editor - but I don't know how to add an editor into this part of my Control Panel.
When I reply to the Comments, I need to be able to style the text with bold, colour, H1, etc, without having to resort to raw html which is what I use at the moment. Is there any way to do this?
Cheers

Re: I could not download COMMENTS module
For this you would use the ID...
input #m3author {width:100px} or whatever width in px you want...
As far as tiny to edit comments you would need to change the editcomment.tpl to include tiny, maybe I will play with this...
