www.keighleyblind.org

Post by aghorner »

After three weeks of work, the last one took three months :) our new website has finally gone live at www.keighleyblind.org, it was built using version 1.3.1 and includes the following modules.

Bookmarks 2.0.1 - used for the links pages, except the "Local Talking Newspapers page" which is just an ordinary page.
Podcast Manager 0.3 Alpha 2 - Will be used to allow people to subscribe to the audio version of our newsletter (trials to start later this year)
TemplateManager 0.2 - Provides the colour switcher on the accessibility page
News 2.8 - Provides what's new, supporters news, and volunteer opportunities.
FrontEnd Users 1.4.4 used in conjunction with CustomContent 1.5  - Provides the login facility for the ICT student area.
Filebackup 0.2 and Mysqldump 1.2.3 are used to backup the site.

Enjoy...

I like the site Antony :) Also, I recently released version 0.6.2 of podcastmanager, so you may want to upload - it has many enhancements and bug fixes.

I am curious did you follow any accessibly standards for the site e.g. WCAG 1.0

Hi Antony,

Really interesting, good to see a site of this type. All the best with the launch.

Hi Antony,
Good site, but I'd run it through an accessibility checker like Cynthia and soemthing like 'Functional Accessibility Evaluator ' from the University of Illinois, before launch, the site does not seem to pass even the automated test? Especially so given the clients ;-)

You have run the whole site through some proper voice enabled testing e.g. no screen only keyboard and speakers using JAW's, Safari and perhaps some other which I have temporarily forgotten?

Hope this helps,
Russ
