CMS Made Simple 1.2.3/Blogs 0.3.0b1/ allowing captcha

I have a site using CMS Made Simple 1.2.3/Blogs 0.3.0b1 in the blog settings i have "enable captcha" checked but it does not appear on the site. Any ideas how to make it show up? the site is being spammed BIG TIME...

You need to upgrade, luckily you haven't been hacked yet...

Do you have the captcha module installed?...

i'm such an idiot... this was one of the first sites i did and didnt install captcha (i have since then but had forgotten about this one)
