[SOLVED] Install Good - No Errors - Won't Display Site, Goes Right Back Install

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[SOLVED] Install Good - No Errors - Won't Display Site, Goes Right Back Install

Post by flarp9 »

Hi,

I'm running Window 2k Server with PHP 5.2.5,  MYSQL 5.0 and IIS 5.   I uploaded the files to a directorc called cmsmadesimple

I connected through a browser via an internal ip#  192.168.1.xx  The install screen came up.  I had all green checkmarks for all required and recommended settings.

The database was created without a problem.  I made it to the congratulations page and the link for "Your CMS Site is Here" was just above an "Add Additional Modules" button.

I clicked on the link to see the site, and it takes me right back to the beginning install screen with the required and recommended settings.

I have tried this 3 times, all goes well except I cannot see the site or it's not being created.  I tried removing the "Install" directory and it just tells me it cannont find the install directory when I click on the "See the site" link at the end of the install.

I tried to go to the admin and get the following: Database Connection Failed
Error: Access denied for user 'cms'@'localhost' (using password: YES) (1045)
Function Performed: CONNECT
Host/DB: localhost/cms
Database Type: mysql

I looked at the database and all the tables are there.  It was created fine.  I can connect using the UID & PW with the db management program I am using.

I am running other apps which are using this MySQL DB and the connection is fine.

I'm kind of stumped on what to do next as this is my first experience with cmsmadesimple.

Thank you in advance for any help offered.

Always be sure to include your CMSMS version but I am assuming it is the newest one. I have never heard of the issue you are talking about and it seems as if the config file might not be writing correctly although I would expect it to error out completely. Is there anyway you are overwriting the configuration file or anything? You may want to look at your config file and ensure the system has written all settings to it.

Not sure how much help that is but you go yourself a weird one.

Jack,

Thank you.  You were right.  Permissions problem on the config.php.  All's well so far.

A million thanks to you.
