Directory issue

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Directory issue

Post by martipao »

Hello I have developed my (multilanguage) web site using a temporary server (PC at home) and then moving to the hosting service provider via FTP (only access).
Besides the fact that I had to rebuild all the multilanguage tables, I have a major problem due to the directory structure. The problem is that I cannot copy the cms directories structure at root level due to permission on "lib" directory (only root).
Then I have created a cms directory and copied all the web over there. Currently the pages are accessibles via http://www.elsteam.com/cms. How can I associate the web address http://www.elsteam.com to the pages ?
I have tried to re-configure setting the values of CMS Document root (as seen from the webserver) and Path to the Document root, unsuccesfully.  :(
Any idea ? ???

It is hard to help you without knowing more about your ISP but it sounds as if it doesn't matter much as you have limited access with them. My only suggestion to you is to find a new host that give you true access to your directory or if you want to stay with your current host, try adding a splash page with some html text and keywords in it and have that point to your CMS directory. I can't think of any other way you would want to do it as the other ways will not be search engine friend (i.e. meta refresh and so on).

Good luck,

Hi Jack,
I have already done what you suggest (site is at http://www.elsteam.com). My question is if there is some setting in CMS configuration that allow to have document root directory at some place referring to a different page (like http://www.elsteam.com ... with document root http://www.elsteam.com/cms)

Thanks,
Paolo
