Thanks Mark - bloody hell whats gone wrong - the whole sites gone squiffy since last FF update!!!!!! I haven't checked since last week when FF forced it's update on me - The box is alright on my system but the wrapper has died and so on. I get really fed up with cross browser rubbish - we've been running the site now for a year - what on earth!

Your right about the class names kind of thought that myself. What I don't like about the editor is that it creates sime very suspect HTML (nested para's) and that isn't good.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mark

Thanks for help - FF again - FF updated it's self last week and I hadn't checked again - looks ok now I think. Reference the Class names I'm sort of toying with that - I'm not over keen on the tiny editor it dies seem to add extra 's and also nests then - noticed that if I tried to apply a different class (applied one then changed mind) it even tried to add a div - then a span and 2 nested 's - of course the section dod not display so no sure about it all but will soldier on as the clients likes the idea nad wants 'to use' it. Thanks all for efforts - at my age understanding sometimes is a struggle - thanks for patience.

Regard

hi

Just an end note to anyone who has manged to trawl through the above - crisis of learning stuff above - and thought what a plonker etc.

Yes and no. What I did not visulise was just how precisely the {content block = 'whtever'} could be utilised. My difficultly was for example; I had styled areas of a page where a thumbnail image - floated left, was of a set size, and floated left, and next ot that was a textual link and below that some descriptive text. I could not get the tiny editor to reproduce that layout even though I was 'selecting styles etc'. If the user hit the return key all went wrong as tiny encapulates everything in para's (a couple of times for some reason a span, and an unclosed div and then of course br's.) basically I was not seeing how I could let my user change thigs without killing the design. Then through experimentation the penny dropped. I could place content blocks like so

{content bloxk ='eee' online='true'}

By providing the user with 4 one line text boxes which places the text etc exactly where I want it I am able to 'retain' the page layout intact. The user manual showing the use of content tags maybe could do with a bit more 'illustration'. I am beginning to really like this system, the potential is awesome, but because you chaps are so techically brilliant, you might be forgetting that us poor new to CMS principle users are overwelmed and sometimes what is obvious to you all is not so to new users.

What I need to do now is workout how the user can add a block of code, like the above, and then edit it. I suppose they could copy and pasted a block of code, changing the content block names etc but theat means giving them access to the template which I'm not keen on allowing. Mark mentioned the 'gallery' template I think so that I suppose is the next step - look at all the available modules and see what can be utilised?

I hope my solution is the right approach and that I haven't missed something glaringly obvious somewhere.

regards to all

Are you saying that these blocks will need to be added to the site as the content expands, like they need to add another item or info, something to the pages?...

Hi Mark,

Yes  - or occassionally removed. Basically they are thumb images with links, a seperate text link and a short caption. The site I have in mind they sell ponies and occasionally the breeding stock so might be 5 or might be 10 for sale. While each horse / pony has their own page - the 'owner' likes to spread thumb images around the site - to keep the site looking uniform I have applied styles floats etc.

Hi

No to be honest - I 'saw' that as a way of applying a 'global' look across certain areas and didn't think about it further. I'll go away and read about it. Thanks

Hi Mark

Not much in the help on GCB's - I looked in documentation just shows the tag - is there anywhere else I can look to read about them?
