(solved -somewhat)home page gives page not found

HI,

I just installed cmsms on a windows system and the home page site.com gives me a page not found error (the index.php file is still there) If i type site.com/index.php, it gives the same error.  If i log into admin page and click on view for any other page but the home page, that page loads.  Why is my home page not loading?

OK, i just made a redirect index.html file to point to the correct home page.
