XML Upload Problem

Post by Deblus »

when trying to upload FCKeditor v1.1.0 to a new site built using v1.3.1 I get the following error

Error parsing XML file. Please make sure you are uploading a .xml file and not a .tar.gz or zip file

the file is definitely an XML file, I have also tried downloading the editor again too but get the same error

any ideas please

It might help to not use the XML installation option directly at the provider, but install the XML in a local solution (using for example Xampp) and check the functionality. Then when satisfied use an FTP tool to upload the material to the site you have at the provider.

I agree with duketown, most of the issues related with that error are because of corrupt files. A testing local server can avoid lots  of headache.

I appreciate your response but an installed function such as uploading XML files should work, it did in the past.
The XML file for FCKeditor comes from the forge so it should not be corrupt either

FTP uploads can have their own issues with corrupting files and for me are very slow eg a 50mb bacxkup takes up to 9 hours to download on a 2mb satelite connection

You...

Going to Modules and at the bottom "Install module via XML file" clicking "Browse" to "Upload File:" and checking "Overwrite existing modules:" and hitting "Submit" button...

Something like that?...

Then yes you may have a corrupt XML file, has been known to happen, have you opened it to see what it says...

Have you tried to get a new copy?...
