Updating from 1.0.4 to 1.3.1?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Updating from 1.0.4 to 1.3.1?

Post by Anastasis »

Hi - I have been sidelined from doing anything with CMSMS for several months but would like to get up to date with the latest version.

I am currently running 1.0.4 so would like to update to 1.3.1.

Other than the following...

  1. Backup your database and all the files in your CMS Made Simple folder on the server.
  2. Download the latest CMS Made Simple package.
  3. Upload the new files, overwriting all the files on your server.
  4. Navigate to /install/upgrade.php. That automatically makes any necessary changes in the database.
  5. Delete the install folder after a successful upgrade

is there anything else I need to be aware of or do?

From 1.1 News take your templates in DB, in News help there are steps for this
If you have modules out of core test before in local environment

Alby - thanks for your reply - but I am not sure from what you have said exactly what you mean.

1. After upgrade, if you use News module, you have a smarty error because try to load a DB template that you don't have, look in News help for the solution.

2. If you use other modules (not core or very old example Feedback module), test your upgrade in your local PC and/or test environment if all works before upgrade in production site
