[solved]connection to database in step 3 of installation giving me grief

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved]connection to database in step 3 of installation giving me grief

Post by Tracy »

Asked by others numerous times and I've read replies numerous times but I can't get past this stage. Please help.

Using the Cpanel I have set up my database as
Name = bootscms
Username = greg
Password = greggord

Below is (as you know the step to fill in for installation and in red is what I typed. Seems correct to me right? I use Sibername as hosting and MYSQL database

Please complete the following fields:

Database Type - MYSQL  (this is default)
Database Host address - localhost (this is default)
Database name - bootscms
Username - greg
Password - greggord
Table prefix - cms_  (this is default)

I have used and done all this for another client so I just don't know what to do now?? Please help

Shouldn't the username/pwd be:

Username - greg
Password - greggord

without the underscores?

Yes, I'm sorry about that. The underscores are not there and I didn't have them there when trying to connect.

Perhaps localhost isn't the correct host address. Some hosts use a specific IP or host name for their MySQL dbs.

Just read on the Sibername site that your db name is in the format "username_nameofdatabase". I assume the username is your account name.

I suppose you're going to have to contact Sibername to see what the correct settings are - not something we can help you with here.

Thankyou for your replies, I've managed with the help of Sibername to work it out. It ended up being that the username and password are preceeded by the account name but not the password. Now I do see this message when logged in;

Warning: install directory still exists. Please remove it completely. Where do I delete or uninstall this from?  ???
