Sign Up Form For Mailing List

Post by ImmortalSon »

Hey All,

I'm trying to get my head around CMSMS and I'm in the middle of building a new website site.

I need to add a form which will allow users to submit their email addressses for a mailing list.

Could anyone tell me of a straightforward way of doing this?  How to add the form, where/how the email addresses are collected etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rich.

Hi Mark,

Thanks so much for getting back to me.  I was beginning to worry that nobody would reply.

Is NewsletterMadeSimple a module to perform this function which I need to install?  If so then great, but where do I find it?

Thanks again,

Rich.

Hi Mark,

I just logged into the Admin section and went to have a look for NewsletterMadeSimple through the Module Manager, but it shows me an error which I haven't seen before.  It says...

Error!
SOAP Problem (http://modules.cmsmadesimple.org/soap.p ... Repository): HTTP Error: Couldn't open socket connection to server http://modules.cmsmadesimple.org/soap.p ... Repository prior to connect(). This is often a problem looking up the host name.

I'm guessing this will make a Mailing List solution even more complicated  :-[

You have to make sure your setup has enuf memory to run soap, assuming it is installed, you can also go to the forge and download it to FTP to your site...

Hey Mark,

Thanks so much for getting back to me.

I'm now just toying around trying to figure out how to make NMS work properly.  I hadn't even heard of this module before but it looks like just the solution I needed.

I have installed NMS-1.0.3.xml from the site you linked me to.  The signup form now appears successfully in the website, but when I enter an email address and click Submit, I receive this error...

"Warning: fsockopen() has been disabled for security reasons in c:\hshome\immortal\amberleafmedia.co.uk\cmsmadesimple\modules\CMSMailer\phpmailer\class.smtp.php on line 105
Thank you"

Have you any idea how I resolve this issue...or who I could contact to get help?

I'm pretty stumped.

Thanks again,

Rich.

Hey Mark,

Hosting has already been purchased so I guess it aint really an option...at least not for this project.  ;)

Is there any other way to create a sign up form other than NMS?

Perhaps the Form Builder module...would that achieve the same aim?

Thanks again,

Rich.

If you are doing a Newsletter NMS is best bet but you can make a form in form builder for sign up...
